Conquering Algebra Word Problems

Here is the eBook on Amazon: a.co/d/03IJQkc
Samples:
Algebra and Adjectives?   After some WW2 era math graduate students were introduced to [∞, +∞], which replaced the more rational (-∞, +∞), My second Calculus teacher asked his classmates “what is five?”
Understanding nouns: An introductions to units of measure
“Isn’t there a formula for that?”  It is too unfortunate how people of all ages stop learning Algebra after they get the unexpected answer to a very common question
Calculating percentages:   From time to time, people question how to go about working with percentages. Does the ratio go first? Last? How do fractions act like percentage calculations.

Click for an excerpt from the 1851 Tahitian language dictionary I formated into HTML for a friend whose daughter was leaving to live there for a year and a half. To save space I’ve removed the middle 300 pages or so. What is left is a good example of the difficulty providing an electronic version of a foreign language dictionary: turning page to page as one would use a paperback book. Do not use the browser’s offer to translate into Maori!!!

Japanese? / French / Italian / German? Chinese? –Audio, Video have joined the center stage as important parts of technical communication. The experience is called by many names. First were the Classics, then came Rhetoric, Speech, Communications, Mass Communications, Mass Media, and now Social Media. They all have one thing in common: a script. Here my first script written for a full-length story ballet. After learning that the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago asked for a ONE-page libretto for a reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker to celebrate the 1893 World’s Fair, I was able to trim my script to 8-pages of entrances, props and lighting.
